Today I bought my third Gibson Les Paul this year after all
This was so actually not planned, because the Slash model was only next year on my to-buy-list. However, I have last week spontaneously struck at the Epiphone 335 Bonamasse Limited and am still very enthusiastic about this - but I noticed, no matter how good the Epiphone is (and I will def keep it), somehow I missed the nitro smell and the Made in USA-feeling when unboxing. That together with the fact that the Slash models now cost 3.2k in the U.S. and the latest price increase has not yet arrived completely here in Europe, I wanted to take the opportunity and have bought the Slash yet this year - probably all just excuses to buy me the guitar as soon as possible (at least thats what my wife says
).
The top may not be everyone's favorite, but it is kinda like made for me (but unfortunately difficult to capture in photos). If you look straight from the front on the guitar, it looks almost like a plain top (which I love!), But if you look from the side, or light falls on the guitar, a strong flammed pattern begins to emerge and just dances in the sun - just gorgeous! I'm not a fan of too much flame or quilt, so I find the plain look in neutral light absolutely brilliant!
The finish on this model is absolutely brilliant. The nut is perfectly filed and also otherwise the craftsmanship and finish is just perfect!
I have unfortunately not had much time to test the guitar yet (only in the lunch break quickly unpacked), but will definitely report after the weekend again in more detail.
