ngd long time member/lurker with a NOS 2006 r8

hi guys!! eraxis here been a member/lurker since '07 ..found an r8 i could not go home without last saturday..he he

learned here that r8's have big necks, but mine does not feel that way..(i don't have big hands) use to playing my gibson ebony custom, and my gibson 335 so i was expecting something different neck feel wise but weird enough, it does not..it feels great, not that different from my other guitars..is this unusual?

Nice color. I like those necks a lot. I can tell the difference between R8 necks and a Standard neck, but the 335's I've played are very similar to the R8's. I like those thicker necks, my hand doesn't get tired as quickly and overall it's more comfortable to me.

the r8's a pain to take pics of..i can't quite capture what i see..anyways, yes the 335's neck is slim,..put some flatwounds on the 335 ...for jazz stuff....cant's stop playing the r8 since i got it, been playing along eddie boyd's "7936 south rhodes" and kenny burrell's "god bless the child" albums.fired up my maz 18jr..and it's been bliss ever since..

All of them are different 58,59 and 60..They are mostly shaped by a Human so to label a 58 as a fat neck is a myth.

HNGD and fab looking R8! Mine does have a fat neck opposed to slim. My brothers 2001 Ebony LPC is slim, there is a vast difference IMO. Perhaps you're lucky and have a nice bunch of fatties!!

All of them are different 58,59 and 60..They are mostly shaped by a Human so to label a 58 as a fat neck is a myth.

i agree, it's not as if that back in the day, they said "ok it's the end of 1956 next year the necks are gonna be fat as hell, or ok it's december 1958 next month we'll make 59's thinner than the 58's..i think they overlapped in production.. different neck types regardless of year..

dunno about the place, ever read SANDMAN graphic novels by neil gaiman? got it from that..anyways, i was just comparing it to the perceived 58 reissue neck sizes..not th actual 58's ...most of the people i talked to about their r8, is that the necks are chunky which i do not notice on mine , thus the idea that maybe i'm missing on something..he he..anyways happy with the guitar overall no hand fatigue,...definitely a guitar that makes me practice more, play more and hopefully get another historic in the future he he..

my other guitars have not been out of their cases for days now..
