Hi everyone,

Fortunate to be posting my second NGD this year. It’s my birthday this month and my wife asked if I would like to get a new guitar. So I replied ........yes.....yes I do. Earlier that day I’d been looking at a new batch of Wildwood select Les Paul 50s Standards they’d just got in. Love the unburst finish on the 50s Standard (normally only available on the 60s Standard). Here’s a few professional pictures from Wildwood, and one not so professional one taken by me on arrival. For some reason the photo gets rotated to landscape when uploaded.

Really liking the 50s neck and the underwound 59 pickups. Really clear and sweet but they can rock too. Most of my other guitars have thinner necks but I’m finding this fatter one really comfortable. The guys at Wildwood were fantastic and did a great setup before shipping. My music room is now full of the smell of crafted wood and nitro lacquer new guitar smell! This is my second WW select, the other being in dark cherry sunburst. I’ve found them to be really good. I love the new Gibson 50s and 60s standards in general and the selected flame tops and underwound vintage style pickups help make these WW select ones really special. Feel free to post your 50s Standard and WW select pictures also. You can never share too many Les Paul photos!

Congrats! That is a beauty!! I got the same combo too, they both have that broke in feel and sound awesome to match. Attached pics of mine-WW Select Unburst, WW Select Dark Cherry and '60s Iced Tea. I also have a Gold Top as well from this series, just never took outdoor pics for some reason. Guess you could say I have a fondness for this series and Les Pauls in general ;-)

Awesome!

“Unburst” is a great finish and it always seemed like a complete no-brainer that they should offer it on the Standard ‘50s model given the storied histories of faded ‘58 and ‘59 ‘Bursts. It’s still a shame this finish is not part of the regular line-up but that just makes the WW Select models all the more special.

Congratulations and enjoy!

You're definitely right about Wildwood having some amazing tops, the Wildwood Spec '59 Tributes are amazing as well. I've thought long and hard about adding an Unburst Wildwood Standard to my collection (and seeing those pictures is making it even harder to resist) but I think I'm going to wait for a bit and see if they do a '60s Standard. Or maybe a dark back Gold Top...

Congrats on the purchase, you've definitely got some beautiful guitars.

Good one ;) Nah, they are there just to keep the finish protected. Have seen nightmare stories about damage from the stands....ain't taking any chances.....even if it means keeping their feet warm:)

Here’s mine from the same run, just got it about a week ago. Absolutely loving it!

oh wow, that is really nice. I love how although from the same series, each guitar is unique with its own flametop patterns. Some have tight horizontal flames, some wide and almost quilted, some have a V shaped flame pattern. I agree there’s a lot to love about these latest Gibson’s and this WW select series.
