I pulled the trigger on a Gibson Les Paul Classic in the Olive Drab color. I kept on seeing this guitar around and of course would go look at the Gibson Online Store myself from time to time and drool over it. I went into GC and after jamming on a Classic as well as a Standard 60's and a Modern, switching mostly between the Classic and the Standard 60's. I found out that the neck is not as Slim as the Modern, so not super Slim and even though the Standard 60's is perfect, the Slim Taper neck on the Classic is not too slim for me to like it. I know that not every guitar even the same model is always exactly the same, so hopefully I get a nice one. Purchasing sight unseen from the Gibson Online store for a purchase is scary, I hope I am not disappointed like I was with my Gibson purchase from Sweetwater. I am so stoked and looking forward to this guitar. I think with the Zebra pickups, cream binding and binding over the frets really give this guitar a great look. I know that video below is a Custom re-issue, but that is what really got me stoked about this color and I think the Zebra pups look so much better on this guitar than one with chrome pickup covers. Part of me wants to put all Gold Appointments, but after looking at a lot of pictures, I think the Chrome looks great and I don't need to bling it out. I just want to play the shit out of it.

Great video review as always man. That thing is sick looking! I would totally love to get one, one of these days!! Those 61s sound great man. I must not have gotten that good of a set or something cause both guitars i had them including my Tribute I just couldn't get a long with them. One day they sounded great the next not so much .... Back to the Kluson's and what you were talking about with the resonation?? I put a set of these on quite a few of my Epi Lp's infact most all of them have these tuners. I for some reason never pulled them tight like they tell you too. I was always afraid of them slipping and the string popping off and having to trash the string. So for me I have always at least used 1 wrap even 2 wraps. I put a set on my tribute and the posts don't stick up out of the head stock as much as my Epi LP's so on that guitar i get like 1 wrap if even that? I have never really noticed if i was loosing resonation or not using these tuners. But deff something to be aware of for sure.....

Did you pick a Les Paul Classic in the Olive Drab, so you can blend into a Jungle or Forest during a guitar combat?? ...... Heading to The Ukraine?

I can't imagine an uglier color for a very expensive guitar, short of Orange or Flaming Pink.

And I bought one of these back in the late 1980's, Insignia Red .... but that was the 1980's, not 2020's. ;) ;)

Obviously, I think the Olive Drab color looks great, why else would I purchase it and love it. I don't really get your humor, especially mentioning Ukraine.

I am glad you're not looking to purchase one since you think it is one of the ugliest colors offered in a Les Paul.

Yep, very Lame.

I think this Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Orange Widow Burst is pretty sweet, and of course Orange. Haha

I'm a fan of olive drab and yours looks especially good! Is yours a little lighter in color or just the way it shows up in pics? Maybe you have something special!

I think mine might be lighter possibly, hard to tell since I haven't seen others in person. I thought it was going to be a little bit darker, but it is fine with me either way.

The olive is absolutely stunning and I have had my eye on Casino's for a long time in that finish.
Also 'The' Ukraine is what russia calls it, it's called Ukraine, thanks.

Ok, so I purchased the Gotoh Locking tuners Vintage style and the Kluson Revolution Locking tuners. I will put one of each on and see which I like better. I already have the Gotoh on my Lazarus, they work great and really have that Vintage Keystone tuner look since they don't have the locking nuts on the top side of the headstock. They were just a straight drop in replacing the Epiphone Deluxe tuners. But... Since this guitar has the Grover Rotomatics with 1 screw and the locking nuts, I am not sure they will just work without some extra work, which is why I got the Kluson's, they may be better for this guitar. I would like to hear any comments on which you think will work better. @rbraad68

Grover rotomatics…..nothing wrong with Grovers on a Les Paul. They’re proper!

You're right, but they need to be keystone/Tulip tuners to look right for my eyes. Grover Rotomatic Keystone Locking Tuners. Keystone/Tulip locking tuners on all my guitars.

From my formative years, Jimmy had me always thinking that the only proper tuners for a Les Paul are Grovers with kidney buttons

You know it's very bad form to shit on an NGD, right? But that's how you roll, innit?

Were these available through a retailer? Or just through Gibson?
