Wow - the flame is nice and contrasty, and I love the grain.

Didn't really mean to do it but - ironically since buying one of the new American Vintage II Strats - I've been jonesing for a more vintage-styled Les Paul vs my (now previous!) LP Joe Bonamassa Studio. Was looking around at the new 50s and 60s Standards and seeing if a deal could be done but then this 2008 R9 came up at my usual local store and I kinda couldn't say no ...

Had to shift a few things to make it happen (and I haggled way more than I usually do!) but I'm absolutely stoked to be back in the Custom Shop owners club:

Gorgeous ...

I mean ... just look at that top ... ?!

With it's new partner in crime ...

No idea on the weight but it's very comfortable: similar to the Strat, actually, but I will admit that I was surprised by how weighty the Strat was when I bought it.

More importantly it SOUNDS fantastic: sweet, fat and chewy in all the right places!
Man, that guitar is killer! I did the exact same thing you did, got a AVII strat and then got a CS LP Special DC 60. A perfect pair. Gratz man.
