It's very interesting that nobody comments on what I wrote.

I thought this would start a discussion.

What's to complain about? These are great guitars. I've never seen anyone say anything to the contrary about them.

I'd say that was short-sighted of Gibson. I'd have relaunched the same model with some new marketing BS and sold hundreds of them.

Nobody truly understands why Gibson does anything, but I don't think these are the reasons why the Faded was dropped from Gibson's price sheets. My guess would be more in line with timing and the 2008 Standard redesign, making the Standard Faded an orphan in the model range.

I also don't think they were big sellers. The Standard Faded probably did decent numbers, but I don't think they necessarily took away from the regular Standard line. If anything hurt the Standard model, it was the 2008 redesign and the introduction of the Traditional.
