Last week I was lucky enough to buy a Gibson Les Paul Studio Custom in tobacco burst from 1985 for 600 dollar’s, which is almost 100% stock, just had new tuners installed and Tim Shaw pickups.

It had a headstock break but is incredibly fixed by a professional luthier.

I can’t put it down! The neck feels like it was made just for me which makes it so incredibly easy to play!

This is my first experience with Tim Shaw humbuckers and I all I can say is WOW!

I’m blown away from the sound and playability, hands down it’s the best Lester I’ve ever played.

I’ve found my perfect Les Paul after years of searching.

Enough of that and on to the pics!

Dude, I LOVE it! I had a studio standard that was a great guitar. Enjoy it!

Man, I love those. Bound neck and body and DOTS. Beautiful finish too.

I get a bit tired of the trapezoids.

Edit: Dude, killer price, too!

Mine was a “fretless wonder” which I just couldn’t get along with. The tone and feel was wonderful.

Which Studios are the “fretless wonders?” I’m not a huge fan of jumbo frets.

BTW Nice Studio! Looks awesome.

There’s something so special and classy with bound dot neck, it really gives it an unique look!
I’m still pinching myself from gotten such a great price on one!

I’m wondering the same as you! I thought frettless wonder was more associated older Les Paul Custom with all the bells and whistles.
Thanks man!’

Isn’t the Tim Shaw pickups made close to the older PAF?
Sorry for the dumb questions, I’m just so new to the World of Tim Shaw pickups

What a beauty you have inn your avatar! Which year is yours from?
'87. For some reason, now and then I'll go a bit without playing it and when I do, I remember pretty quickly.

im not saying it was original fretless wonder, I’m saying the frets were very low and flat on the guitar.

Did they make a run of Studios with low frets? That’s what I was really wondering, thanks!
