Hi guys just bought this today. I've only had a couple of hours of play with it. So far I am thrilled and really dig the pickups. Feel free to post your pre-historics.

I have an '84 pre issue. My first Les Paul....... High school graduation present. I thank my parents for making me keep it all these years...... I love it, only issue I had with it were the frets. Sent it off to Mike Lull years ago for medium jumbo frets, much better now. Here's mine

Mine is a really, really well-played one.

Actually, I also don't know a great deal about these, except from what I found here.

To the OP, how do you know that the pickups are Shaws? I'd like to know that for mine as well.

Hi, as far as the pickups are concerned underneath the covers they should be zebras just like in my pictures. To fully verify you would have to take out the pickup and post some pictures of the underside so we can verify the numbers that are stamped. How about posting some pics of your '89.

I haven't counted, I have some Fenders and some other Gibsons that I have never mentioned on the forum. I wouldn't say I am necessarily a collector, there are far better investments IMO out there, but if I'm passionate about something then I will buy it even if I don't play it. I never would buy a guitar as an investment that's for sure. I have been playing for over 18 years and I intend to use this as one of my players. I love the dark cherry sunburst on it. You don't see cherry sunbursts like these anymore.

Here goes... Just a quick pic with flash. It's a faded tobacco.
The arm wear and pick wear are real. The other spots are light reflections.

heres my 82 leo pre-historic special order gibson reissue...all real wear..and it smells funky too
