I played the Dark Terror with with my new Custom and it sounds very sweet, but really not much different than my Handsome Devil, except it has more gain and it is tighter/more compressed. It was not as much of a difference as I was expecting though, I was truly expecting there to be a bigger difference. I bet playing through a 2x12 there would be a lot bigger difference, or possibly playing with the volume around Noon and getting the tubes working more. Living in an apartment, I kicked it up a little bit testing and comparing, but I didn't do it for very long, not wanting to upset the neighbors.

Maybe I will just keep the Dark Terror in the closet until I move into a house next year, which I am planning on doing. I will just put it back in the box and keep it as new until I decide what to do with it. I like the tone options/versatility that I have on the Blackheart, since I have Bass/Mid/Treble and Presence. One thing is for sure, the Dark Terror is half the size of the Handsome Devil Head, definitely a smaller footprint with great tone and gain for days.

Yes, I was very bummed when they went under as well. I had the Handsome Devil Combo and the extra cabinet back 4-5 years ago and it was sweet after I changed out the speakers. I got rid of it just before moving to San Diego, limited space in my car. I modded it with the help of a tech for a more Marshall gain tone, but it just was not the same anymore because it affected how the Treble/Mid/Bass worked not allowing a large range of change. I'm glad recently I was able to find the head version of the Blackheart Handsome Devil in excellent condition and unmodified. I could not find a matching cabinet at a reasonable price, but I found on Craigslist the Epiphone Valve Jr 1x12 Extension Cabinet which is basically the same thing. I just took out the Lady Luck speaker and put in the WGS Reaper HP.

I am still very much in the honey moon phase with my Les Paul Custom, I like to play it for a bit every night when I get home from work. I am probably driving the neighbors crazy, but I don't care. haha The one girl said that she likes to hear me play. Maybe I should invite her over for a closer more personal session. :fingersx:

Thanks everyone, I'm loving this new lady! I was playing the Standard and the Custom last night, going back and forth comparing the two of them. I know girls don't like being compared to each other, but hey... I gotta do what I gotta do. haha I love them both very much, they both feel different but perfect in every way. I feel so lucky to have them and hope I have them for a long long time to come.

I have to say, I am very much in a great place now with my guitars. After a few years of buying and selling different guitars, I couldn't be more pleased with my current stable.
