I was playing the guitar last night for a bit and for about 2 hours today. All I have to say is wow, it really has this nice thick full tone to it that I just don't have from my other guitars. Sure my other guitars feel and sound great, but this guitar has just so much more of a full tone that fills you and the room.

This guitar is definitely a keeper, I plan on keeping this guitar for life! :dude:
And just when you thought it couldn't get much better than your Standard and Studio....it did :thumb:

Though yellow isn't my personal first choice of color, I have to concede that this one is uniquely stunning  :applause:

I have been done getting any more guitars at least three guitars ago, but now, because of your assessment of this one, along with what I consistently hear about Customs, I must have one......THANKS A LOT BUD!!!!!....you may have just cost me a huge expense!!

Oh! and congrats on your stellar acquisition

Congrats @rjwilson37!! Great top, and I love the light back and sides!

One thing I notice that I don’t think I’ve seen on other Customs...the 4 screws on the pickup rings are gold...they used to be black (with black plastics). In fact that was one thing that set Chibsons apart from Gibson. Chibsons always use chrome or gold screws depending on the hardware.

When did Gibson start this?
Black on my 83

Thanks buddy, she definitely looks really sweet to me. Sorry I've got you looking again. My Bad, but I had to see what all the fuss was about. My new Custom definitely has a bit more of a deeper growl to her. She does weigh in at just a little under 10lbs, so she has some weight to her.

My only issue is with the tinted binding. Imagine how much that color would pop with white binding?

I'd be all over one...if I could afford one, that is.

Congrats! She's a beauty!

Thanks RockStar, I do like the binding when it's not white though, making the guitar a more one of a kind sort of. Or well 1 of 10 that is. haha

I was also looking at the Centipede Burst, which had a Yellow binding front, back and neck with Red binding on the head stock, which I thought was sweet.

Still a great looking guitar. No doubt about it!

Thank you everyone!

So... it is hard to put my finger on it, but I just sound better playing this guitar. The action is setup very well, low but not dragging and to fret the guitar anywhere on the neck is so easy. Plus, the intonation is just perfect, when you play a note, it is just perfectly in pitch which makes your playing sound better because it is so clean. Does anyone else who has a custom feel this when they play there guitar. The tone is very warm and deep, a tone that has more depth and fullness to it than my other guitars. I am definitely liking how the guitar feels and plays, even though the neck is a little thicker than I am use to.

What can I say ladies and gentlemen, I'm in love!

Oh.. my new girl came into my life weighing in at 9lbs 14oz

You've discovered the drawing factor of Customs -- low action, smooth fretboard and a weight that makes you want to fight the thing with all your might ;)

I always played better on my Custom than my LP Classic too, despite the neck being thicker than I preferred. It's definitely not unusual!

Happy NGD! That's honestly probably the nicest top and color combo I've ever seen on a Custom.

Thanks Crazy Train. It's kind of funny you chimed in. This guitar hits the Randy Rhoads Crazy Train tone dead on, with that extra growl that a guitar needs I think.

Late to the party but I wanted to pop in and say my share of wows! :wow:

IIRC from my oddball Lester thread you always had a fine looking collection of gits! I see you haven't stopped!

Good catch..:jam:

I finally got my Les Paul Custom, the Gibson Custom Limited Run Les Paul Custom Yellow Widow Burst! Man that is a mouthful to say. I will just call her my LP Custom Yellow Widow.

Here she is, sorry for the quick post, I will post some more pictures later when I get home and after I play her for a bit.
Unreal! That's the most beautiful Custom I've seen in many moons! Congtrats! I'm sure she sounds fine, what does she weigh?

Thanks needlespauls, the Dark Terror is out for delivery right now. :dude:

I was playing the Custom again last night and it was definitely a wowing moment for me. I was just jamming my typical jams and doing some of my own stuff, this guitar has such a nice tone to it and it hits that hard rock/metal 80's tone dead on. It just screams, has the right amount of grit and growl to it that I had a smile on my face from ear to ear. Plus how it feels and plays is fantastic as well, the intonation is dead on, so the chords your playing are perfectly in pitch no matter where you are on the fretboard. :headbanger:
