I just picked up a 2006 CS 356 with an ebony fretboard. I am loving it. I wanted the Les Paul sound at a lighter weight. This model has a one piece mahogany back and sides that they hollow out and then slap a solid maple cap onto, not plywood.

It’s 7 pounds compared to my 10 pound Les Pauls. At home I only play standing, and my gigs are four hours long with one short break to use the restroom, so I am looking forward to playing this lightweight. We play 80s hair band music and these ‘57 pickups are great for that. I don’t scoop my mids like the 80s though, because I want to sound good.

Oh, and did I mention the giant gold Bigsby?

Love it. I have a CS-336, the 356s less fancy brother. the fact that these are carved - back and sides are one piece - make them more like a chambered Les Paul. What’s the neck like?

Thank you. The neck is a slim 60s.

Please feel free to post pics of your 336.

Nice score. CS 356s are great guitars. Definitely can get a killer LP tone with some added snap and woody tone. Still looking for a factory Koa CS 356 with a bigsby.

Use to have a Frost Blue CS 336, KS 336, and Koa CS 356. Unfortunately sold them to grab a ‘53 Les Paul.

Thanks! Well, I can understand why you sold them. That was a worthy sacrifice.
