I just picked up a 2006 CS 356 with an ebony fretboard. I am loving it. I wanted the Les Paul sound at a lighter weight. This model has a one piece mahogany back and sides that they hollow out and then slap a solid maple cap onto, not plywood.
It’s 7 pounds compared to my 10 pound Les Pauls. At home I only play standing, and my gigs are four hours long with one short break to use the restroom, so I am looking forward to playing this lightweight. We play 80s hair band music and these ‘57 pickups are great for that. I don’t scoop my mids like the 80s though, because I want to sound good.
Oh, and did I mention the giant gold Bigsby?
