New Gibson day for me!!! I know 2 things. 1) I frigging love my Melody Maker more than any other guitar I've owned. And I've owned quite a few. 2) I love P-90 pickups. So yesterday I see a Gibson Les Paul Junior just became available at my local GC so I call and inquire about it. I knew my budget and wanted to make an offer to the assistant manager and he wouldn't even let me make my offer. He just cut me off and said "No, the price is the price." Well son of a bitch! I've spent a lot of money in that store over the past couple of years and he can't even hear me out? I even just bought a used guitar from them just last month (which I sold a week later for $150 profit but that's another story). Well I decided to go down today and see it anyway. Fell in love and grabbed the manager. We talked for a few minutes and I made him my offer and he accepted it without even blinking an eye! So happy new guitar day to me!!! 2010 Gibson Les Paul Junior!!

My first good guitar was a Melody Maker. Had a couple of Jr's through the years too. Both great axes!

Good score!

Thanks. I don't know why but there is something about the simplicity of these guitars that does it for me. All I need is a hunk of mohogany, a Gibson neck and a pickup!

My first good guitar was a '67 SG Jr with a Badass bridge and the stock P-90. That guitar sounded great, especially for blues. Those single P-90 Gibsons rock! Happy new guitar day :thumb:

Congrats HNGD! That axe is like a good set of brass knuckles.

HNGD! I too suffer from JR GAS! P90s have a ton of tonal range and the simplicity of the one P90 in a JR is just about perfect.

My only worry is the neck on the newer models. Is it slim, fat, or in between? Does I come with an intonatable bridge or non?

Thanks for all the compliments! Before I decided on the Jr, I contacted a local ebay seller that has willing to cut me a deal on a mint condition PRS SE Bernie Marsden if he doesn't get any bids on it. In the end I decided to go with what I know works for me!

The neck feels like a slim 60's to me and intonation can only be adjusted by 2 screws on either side of the bridge that push against the posts. My melody maker has basically the same intonation setup and I'm not having any issues with either.
