I have been wanting some P-90s for a while now but, didn't really find a platform I liked until now. I considered SGs, Juniors, DC, etc.

Then I noticed this Vintage Burst. I have never given this finish a second look in the past but, out of many examples of this finish, this one just called out to me so, I mulled it over for quite a while. In that time, I just couldn't seem to get it out of my mind. If this specific LP had sold before I could buy it, I still wouldn't have one....this was the one for some reason, especially when my SW rep. gave me a great discount...done deal.

Fit and finish do not reflect the sub 2K price. I can not find any issues with this guitar, not even minor ones.

The rolled edges on the fret board are very nice and the nibs have been done far better than some of the LPs at almost twice the price....really, really nice actually. The neck profile is nice too, unlike any that I have so far. It's not thin or really thick and a nice C shape. Oh, and I love the satin neck!

I love the way the bright white binding contrasts with the black on the body and the "Febony" of the board.

I will be buffing out the top and just may leave the headstock satin, because I kind of like the way the shiny TRC stands out a bit against the satin.

I will need to lower the strings at the nut about a 1/2mm or so to suit my preference. Other that that, I am very pleased with this one. Also, the "possible" issues posted here http://www.mylespaul.com/threads/weird-wings.409484/ where only optical illusion and/or camera angle. The HS is straight and the tuners are positioned correctly.

For some reason, the flame really stands out in the photos more than in person. I liked it because the flame was subtle and the opposing grain with mineral streaks were nice...the pix do not seem to reflect this very well. This is by far the most animated top I have ever seen. It's like those plastic 3D cards.

These P-90s are bad a$$! The playability/feel/tone all hit the mark. It will only get better once I do my own personal set up, which will only need be very small tweaks.

And, they included a nice 5 ply PG that I doubt I will install...at least for now.

And so it begins... :naughty:
Actually, it began a few years ago. I thought why would anyone need more than one LP so, I got a really nice Standard thinking that would be my one LP. Now, I have 4 LPs with no end in sight. Each is distinctly different on various levels. My short list is still (and it changes frequently) a mini HB of some sort, a Traditional, and perhaps a Custom.

That’s a nice looking top you’ve got there. I have the same one in Orange Sunrise, Canadian exclusive colour, and I too have decided not to put the pickguard on. Just doesn’t look right on the one I have and same with yours, I find any Les Paul with p90s doesn’t need a pickguard for some reason.

Oh, you thought I was talking about LPs in general?
P90 guitars are a completely separate addiction. Just wait...

BTW, if you ever want to sell that 5-ply guard, hit me up.
I have one of those Pelham Blue, P90 Classics that could use one.

Happy NGD.

Congrats! I really like this model, and hope it does well for them (Gibson). Glad to hear the positive report on the deets.

Enjoy brother!

(Don't buff the top! It'll shine up in all the wear spots and look really cool. Oh, heck, it's your guitar...)

I like that vintage burst, though usually lean towards cherry burst and gold tops. Congrats! I still need an LP with mini hums. I already have one with humbuckers and two with different versions of P-90 (one has P-90S)

One of the big things I like about my 2017 Standard HP is the removable PG. Sometimes I like it with and other time without. I really wish this was a feature on "all" LPs.

Thanks!
I will wait a bit, at least until I find some time to buff out the top. I polished the top on my Tribute and loved the results. Not quite gloss but, a bit more shine than satin. I can buff it a little or a lot to see what looks best. There are so many parts on this LP that contrast, I think doing just the top would be the only mod I would do.
