I ordered this October 6th 2020... just got it yesterday.

The made in Mexico Stripe Series Franky Relic.

I wouldn’t have bought one of these if it wasn’t for Edwards passing.... it was my way of paying homage and respect to an artist that had an influence on me... both good and bad.

Though I basically bought as a wall flower..... I can say I am pleasantly surprised.... well no,... I was shocked how good a guitar and player it actually is. It does have the EVH tone and character. The frets are dressed flawlessly and effortless to play. Played it for hours. It is a fantastic bargain considering the custom shop relic version is now stratospheric in value.... and I don’t have any fear playing this.

Cool guitar.

(though in all honesty I thought the Frankenstein was a result of a methhead on a bender tweaked out of his mind)

It looks insanely good, congrats! Definitely looks like it would already have that worn in feel to it

I’m embarrassed to say I always thought the white guitar with black stripes was a different guitar entirely - I never realised ?!

I built my own on the cheap a few years ago, but it's barely playable. Thinking about it now, that's probably how the original Frank was.

I'd really like to have one of the MIM replicas, just to take out to country gigs and blues jams. :cool2:

Yerp the EVH shop was already behind on demand before Eddie passed. I played one of these at my local store and it sold 2 days before Eddie passed and there hasn’t been one in since. It’s definitely a shred stick and wasn’t my thing but much respect to EVH as a brand for offering this guitar at a price that’s affordable.

You know Edward changed parts on this thing ( necks, bridges, paint ) like we change socks. Even after a painstakingly re-creation of it by the Fender Custom Shop,... it was altered again. It was always a work in progress.

Agreed. There are so many photos through the years of this body with different necks on it. In old photos, the white and black stripe days, the neck has a 70s style large headstock on it. He said on a Youtube video I saw of him that the original headstock got snapped off when he was doing a jump against one of his amps in a show.

So as much as we try to recreate the exact version of that guitar, there really isn't an exact version to copy.

That didn't stop me from building a couple myself...

Way cool guitar and I would just LOVE to be able to buy a similar thing but the 78 Eruption version (not the super expensive one they put out, but this price point)
