Picked this up late last week -> nos 2020 v1 60th anniversary, it was a phenomenal deal that was too good to pass up. I just loved the color (deep cherry) & the top which has a vintage vibe, it sucked me in immediately.

As to tone, which is never easy to put in words but I’ll try -> for starters the guitar resonates extremely well unplugged, it’s the first thing I look for… plugged in it’s woody & fat with a focused and defined bottom with excellent sustain.. Mids and highs have a certain glassiness and clarity without being bright or biting. Overall it’s a very balanced sounding instrument.

I still need to measure the neck, but it feels like a full C, with less of a shoulder which makes sense as these V1 guitars are really spec’ed 59’s with a 60 serial number.

Beautiful Guitar! Deep cherry is my favourite color. How is the neck Pickup?

And what kind of camera did you use. I have always trouble do catch the right shade of red.

I bought one back in 2020 and it was real nice. I sent it to Gibson to touch up the finish on the binding (very bumpy), but it came back 6 months later with a nasty ding in the back. Gibson agreed to replace it and I got a real winner in return. Real light (8 lbs 2 oz) and ridiculously resonant- more so than any other LP I’ve ever played. The top is off the hook, as well. It was a great year for LP’s, I think.

Interestingly enough, the one I originally bought and the one they replaced it with were different colors, even though they were both considered Dark Cherryburst. The first one looked more of a traditional Cherryburst, a brighter red.

Thank you.

Again tone is hard to describe but I would say the neck pup is pretty well rounded,& as you roll the tone back it’s fat thick warm but retains its clarity without being muddy. I like it better than the 57’s & burstbuckers I’ve had in prior guitars.

The camera used was just my phone no filters, just a point and click pic.

The color is definitely beautiful.

Very nice! Especially like how you can see the "normal" grain underneath the flame!

I have one with the V3 neck. Closest guitar to a vintage Gibson I have played so far. The V3 neck completely nails the thinnest 1960 necks. I am going to post it compared to a ‘60 burst I played a few weeks ago. The 59/v1 necks are a much improved.
