Around this time last year I picked up a 50’s Standard Gold Top. As I’ve become obsessed with that guitar and love everything about it, I decided to pick up a new 50’s Standard P90 to match! It’s actually been a couple weeks since I received it, but just getting around to sharing now.

Set up was close and easy to dial in and the fit and finish is flawless. Still fiddling with the pickups a little to tweak the tone and balance, but I love what they’re producing. They’re relatively quiet in terms of hum and are very warm and sweet. Also, none of the QC horror stories are present with this one.

Serial number equates to March 3rd of this year. As 33 is my lucky number, I’ve got a good feeling about this one! Here are a few mediocre pictures:

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. I forgot to mention it weighs in at 9 lbs 4 oz, so it feels solid but is nowhere near some of the 10+ lb Standards I see pop up online regularly.

Here are a few pics of the two Gold Tops together. The tops and boards are pretty similar, but the difference in the shade on the back is pretty remarkable. I personally like the P90 back more, but both appeal to me.

Beautiful.
I went back and forth for months between Standard, R6, and R4... Ultimately coughed up the dough for the R4 and don't regret it.
But that Standard is really nice.
