Love the Alpine White!! That's one missing from my collection.

I didn't go looking for that one but when i saw it i HAD to have it.... After receiving it i'm so happy i did. It's a awesome guitar, really got me off of wanting a white LP custom.

I bet that Slash neck on your appetite is pretty big compared to your new 50s?

It's actually very similar, i don't know how to explain it but on the slash the profile feels slightly different (more of a radius" on the bottom of the neck.

Beautiful guitar! I didn't know 57s were an option on some. I would have loved them in my 50s Standard.

Im sure my name is ringing in the halls of Sweetwater myself - I had quite a feverish return-fest going myself . . :)

My sales engineer is really cool... he didn't mind one bit. It was more annoying for me, shipping two guitars back and picking them up. Also waiting stinks.

This model is great, looks great and sounds great... the iced tea on these is different then the 60's version, a bit darker and more brown then reddish brown. I'm really blown away... this one exceeded expectations. It has this little blemish on the binding but i don't mind that because it really does have some mojo going for it. Also after i posted this pic i noticed scratches in the pic by the switch so i had to polish them out..... I'm done buying gibsons for a while i think lol

No settling there, IMO... that thing is a stunner! (But in the interest of full disclosure, the various Iced Tea variants are my fav LP colors!)

Congrats & HNGD!

Congrats! What a beaut.

Be careful re: those Paradigms. I liked the tone and feel too, but they are rough on frets like non plated steel strings, IME

Gorgeous ... Congrats!

I have found I prefer 57 Classics over anything else Gibson makes. And oddly enough, the lowly 490s are a close second. A pair of 57s were going into my last two if I'd have kept them.

I went to GC and tried a few of the Slash models, and I just did not like the neck on any one of them.

That's weird... they are so similar to the 50's standard. Might even be the same neck just with that handmade variation from the neck shaper on the line at Gibson. What was it that you didn't feel comfortable with about the necks ?

For me everything feels like shit off the wall at my guitar center.... i don't know if it's just the vibe in there or their guitars aren't dialed in.

The neck just felt big and clunky to my hands. It could be the setup for sure, which are always a bit high at GC, but I picked up a Classic and it was just perfect. Sure the Classic is a Slim Taper neck, which I like, but I also like a Medium C neck as well. I tried a 59 Historic at GC and the lower portion felt the same as my 58 Black Beauty, but as you got up higher than the 8th fret, it was a lot thicker up top than my Black Beauty which is a Medium C neck.

Yes like you I also had to send two guitars back to the seller and wait for a third - but also like you it all ended great! The pain of waiting goes away fast when that third one rolls in looking awesome :)

To be fair to gibson the first one was good... I just found reasons not to like it i suppose, pickups and top mainly... So i found an imperfection in the binding to justify swapping it, ironically i saw it listed on Sweetwater as a demo labeling completely different flaws which was the clear coat not being even on the binding. The second one was awful and had me worried i sent back a really good one. No regrets with how everything turned out.

I think you made a great choice on tobacco burst standard over the classic... I bet it looks great with the natural back and dark burst with the fat neck.
