Came across this beauty on the MLP member classifieds. Always wanted a Special but they seem tough to come by. This one popped up and i was able to snap it up. New strings and a little setup and it’s sounding pretty darned good. Fingerboard is the darkest Indian rosewood I’ve ever seen and the figure could pass for Brazilian. Very cool instrument

Very cool!

I've been eyeing those as I am P90 less at the moment.

Enjoy!

Thanks! It not a fat neck, they’re calling it a 60’s neck. Still has some meat on it and comfortably wide but not round an full like a 50’s neck. Played it last night in a band setting and it was really comfortable to play. Digging it so far!

Any mods planned? New 90s?
I don't think so? This bad boy sounds great just like it is. The P90s are articulate and cut. I have been tweaking the setup but that's pretty normal. I may mess with the tailpiece studs and go to a locking set. If anything though, it'll be minimal

I did notice that the guitar sits a bit awkwardly for me due to the placement of the strap button. I'm used to the button being on the top horn. I finally had a DOH moment and realized that I needed to lengthen the strap by about 3 inches. Much better...
