HNGD! Beautiful top! I looked hard at the HP line but eventally got scared off from all the complaints on the tuners. Glad to hear they work great, might be time for me to reconsider.

I haven't found any problems with the tuning system yet. The problem with the reviews were that some said it absolutely sucked in every way & other said it works just fine, as any tuner, only that it's on the headstock instead of the floor & connected to gears that turn the pegs to pitch. The views were polarized to say the least. I don't think Gibson would put this on every high-end guitar if it was not good. I don't think they'd risk the Gibson name for a mere gimmick, but perhaps I'm wrong. In 2016 they have more guitars without the system because it probably doesn't sell as well - most people want it traditional.

But if you like the other specs but are skeptical about the tuner, you can just leave it off & tune yourself. That was my intention but it works perfectly when I hold the button to tune each string separately & I control it against the tuner on my Eleven Rack. Sometimes when I strum to quicktune it's not as accurate. I don't see a reason not to use it.

Here's a photo of a very small dark spot beneath the nitro. Do you think it's part of the wood or is it a flaw?

Now I just want to get my Standard 07 to play as good as this one. Perhaps I'll have someone change the nut, klusons to locking tuners & see if the frets need work

photo too out of focus and blurry to tell what that is.

Does it play to your liking? Yes? Get over it and play.

Not playing to your liking? No? Send it back and get another.

Beautiful, only thing I'd do is throw some top hats on it...other than that, flawless.

nice guitar and that case looks awesome too! do the HP models come with that case, or is it for every 2016 les paul?

That case comes with every 2016 HP model. I looked on the Gibson site and they don't sell that case either.

Beautiful finish on your guitar. Just gorgeous! I wish you many years of enjoyment from your LP Trad HP.

I'm gonna keep it, I just wanted to know wether the dark spots are part of the wood or not. 2 Quick photos.

Not a flaw - a bit blurry, but I am pretty sure those dot like marks are pretty common to maple topped guitars, as I have seen similar on many - I don't know the science of it, maybe it has something to do with changes in the wood during growth - minerals, moisture, insects, who knows. Definitely something I would not obsess over. Put a couple of dings and scratches on there at your next gig, and it'll all be fine.

This is my 2016 Trad T honeyburst. You can see plenty of mineral streaks just above the two volume knobs. Very common in maple.

Great looking guitar!

I like the look of that older pick guard style more I think. With the screw & all :) can't have it all I guess.

I've been playing for at least 1 hour a day sinceI got it. Haven't had this much fun playing guitar since I was 17

Looking forward to picking up an HP model on the used market in a few years. I think that the Axcess neck should be standard on all non-historic LPs. I like the feel of the slightly wider neck. These are the types of changes that I welcome and wish that Gibson would pursue...
