That is flippin perfect. Love the grain.

Personally I need the pickguard on contoured top guitars due to the habit I have of leaning my hand there, but the grain is lovely and I would almost try a clear pickguard...almost.

About the pickguard, if you want to get :slash: tone, you have to take it off... it affects the sound. :laugh2:

CONGRATS. What a BEAUTY!! You are fortunate to have 3 GC's in close proximity to be able to test like that!

My own personal preference for my LPs is pick guard ON. Always. To me, my guitars just don't look right without the pick guard on

PS: A Friedman PT-20 as well? WOW, You have it made in the shade

Yes, I'm pretty lucky with amount of stores (5 in the DC/Baltimore area) and with the gear I've been able to collect. I've been much more picky about quality rather than quantity the last few years and it's really starting to show. I'm even surprised at what I've got now.

Now I'm just trying to think of name. I'm leaning towards "Gigi" as an ode to Gary Moore and Peter green (G and G...get it) as it reminds me of their shared holy grail LP. Not sure yet.

And yes, the pickguard is staying on.

Good call on the pick guard staying on. Some I like on, some I like without it, but yours definitely looks better with it.

Nice guitar, by the way.

She is a beauty, well done! I think the best guitars that Gibson USA has built in many many years. Very special ones!

Is your switch tip shorter than usual? I notice all my other Gibby's have longer switch tip but this one doesn't seem to be a fault, weird

I noticed this on my 16 Trad. The Switch tip seems shorter, stubbier. I see pics all the time of LPs that seem to have switches that appear taller, and have switch tips that seem thinner and longer. Which leaves me like :hmm: .. Anyway..

Thats a real beauty ya got there OP!! I think it looks better with the pg ON, but I go through phases where thats concerned and just remain thankful that I can change my mind at any time! Take it off, put it on. Its like a jacket on a chilly day. Your choice.

Lovely top on that thing!! Love the subtlety of the grain and how it shows its stripes more when tempted to! Excellent find! Enjoy.

Beautiful! HNGD!

My 2016 HB Trad T is the same way... from certain angles, in certain light it could pass for a plain top, but from other angles in other light it looks like a AAA flametop! Very cool aspect to my guitar's particular top that I just love (ie, the variability of its appearance). I've had it since 9/04/15 and I've yet to take its beauty for granted. I just never get bored of looking at it and it stuns me every time I open the case.

Oh... and PICKGUARD ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

So I have a question and please don't blast me for being lazy anyone. I looked on gibsons site and they show 500k v/t pots but nothing about wiring. Do the 2016 traditionals have 50s wiring? Or something different.

I know every post I've read people say modern but there also stating 500k and 300k pots so I'm not sure.

Haven't opened the control cavity up yet, but will probably tonight. I'll let you know what I see.

Also, sort of related, but I find it super interesting where all the different burst colors come from. Like, except for desert burst and ones like that, that they all derive from how UV rays have faded the original cherry burst. I explained all this to my wife over dinner a few nights ago and I could tell she was really into it

They appear to be modern wiring. You can change it to 50s wiring by moving the cap leg from the end to the center contact on the volume pot.

OP so do you just look at your guitar and say holy **** that's mine I do. I have nice guitars already and some vintage but I really love the fit, finish and tone of 2016 traditionals. The necks are sick I love how it's bigger than 60s but smaller than 50s rounded.

I think the honeyburst is the sharpest specially with them flecks running through wood. I got em too on mine.

Is it odd the studs don't screw all the way into the body, I've never seen that before? Plays like butter though so I haven't sweated it but am curios. Also the pups sound so different than the 57 classics in my epiphone plus top, wonder if that's the wiring.
