Went to 3 GCs today to find the right grain and flame pattern, but finally found one that really jumped off the wall. Looks like a plain top with an awesome grain pattern with a hint of flame, but when the light hits it right, the flame just screams off of the top. Plays like a dream, too, and sounds like one as well.

Just having one problem: pickguard on or off??

I'm viewing your pics on my cell phone but it looks like you have a few flecks or mineral streaks in there...or it could be dirt on my screen. Lol.

Look fantastic. Good to see that you put in some time and effort to pick out the right guitar. Very, very well done. That top is gorgeous.

Oh, and pickguard on for sure.

pickguard on ;)

Pick guards should only be allowed on solid colour Les Paul's.
what is the point of Gibson picking a nice flamed maple top and then you cover it with a cheap piece of plastic.

whats the point of finding a perfect piece of ebony or rosewood then cutting out big squares or trapezoids in the middle and filling them in with plastic?

Congratulations man, I have a question. I bought the same exact guitar today and I'm curious if you changed switch tip and knobs? I have different knobs on mine and a cream color switch tip not one like yours that looks to be through many smoky bars already.

Screaming guitars though, I like em. Mine is the same way looks pretty plain then light hits it and holy **** it lights up. I didn't even notice until bout 3 minutes ago. Let me know on your knobs/tip. Happy NGD

Thanks! Not dirt on the screen though. There is definitely some flecking going on. That's one of the things that attracted me to it.

Cool! I switched out the knobs and switch tip immediately. I hate speed knobs and the amber tips are just cooler. Gives everything a nice vintage vibe.

When you were shopping I don't know what you experienced but I had 2 too choose from in store in the color I wanted, the color you have. One seemed to have a tiny bit fatter neck then the other which had a perfect neck, bigger than a 60's but not a bat.

Secondly the one with the fat neck had some serious QC issues that got by, one being some serious bad work at neck joint and the pickup rings were warped.

Then on the one I picked when I went to switch to bridge I got neck pickup and vica-versa. Easy fix but come on, they did a painstakingly good build I think and then to miss something like that. Case came with all the goodies, a picture of it on techs desk and even a bloody truss rod tool.. couldn't believe that. I thought they stopped doing that years ago.

Thank god they keep all the 2k plus les pauls 30 ft on the ceiling, absolutely no abuse to guitars at all, not a one of them.

Yeah that sucks about the QC, but at least you ended up happy. And I DID notice that neck thickness thing! Tried one at one store, same model, same color, and had a baseball bat on it. This one feels slightly thinner but definitely not slim. Feels like my Trad Pro II which has a perfect neck.

Oh, decided to go pickguard on. Just looks better. Just needs a name now, but that will reveal itself in time...

Is your switch tip shorter than usual? I notice all my other Gibby's have longer switch tip but this one doesn't seem to be a fault, weird

Oh Btw your guitar looks great with the pickguard off even though I never take mine off, I say it works with that color, especially with your tip and knobs

Really pretty guitar! Honeyburst is my favorite color, I bought a new LP over a year ago. I wanted to avoid a 2015 at all costs. When I found a new 2014 in Honeyburst I was thrilled.

Gorgeous, man. I love Honeybursts.

And pickguard on, definitely. A Les Paul without a pickguard looks like a face without a nose.
