Hello guys! This is my first post, been lurking here for a while though.
Got this gorgeous paul the other day, my first gibson acually :D

One thing i was wondering about is the part under the tailpiece studs (see the last image). There's no metal ring around the bushing, is it supposed to look like that?
Been searching for other traditionals but its hard to find a good image at that part.

Welcome to the '13 Traditional Club. I think '13 Traditional's (Probably a lot of the rest of the line) may come to be seen as the "High-water" mark for Gibson before they went off the rails.

Anyway, as twilliams pointed out the dimple is from the "ledge" on the tailpiece stud and is normal. If it really bugs you, you can screw the tailpiece down to the body and top wrap your strings. OMG did I just say top wrap? Anyway, there are a lot of opinions about what top wrapping does or doesn't do, but it for sure will let the tailpiece be screwed down to cover those dimples.

Congrats on a great guitar. I'm still totally in love with mine just passing our 1 year anniversary.

Phew, wouldn't really had made a difference though. its a real player and a keeper

Yeah i was thinking about that, looks pretty cool with a top wrap.
Never tried it on my other guitar though, guessing it doesn't make any big difference

Beautiful. The 13 Trads are pretty cool.

I dig the little mineral streaks in the top. Very nice looking guitar.

Not sure what OP means by "metal ring." Is he referring to the fact that it has lacquer on top of the insert?

I converted my bridge and tailpiece to fabers. With he faber abr bridge there is now enough clearance for the tailpiece to be against the body without the strings touching the back of the bridge.

I tried to resist doing this on my '14 trad but I failed.....faber parts for it came in yesterday and it will get its upgrades at the next string change.

My '13 is a caramel but no where near as killer as the OP's
