Thanks guys... I have been lurking in the Historic section for years now and finally I managed to get one for myself. It was either a 2009 CR8 or this one, but this R9 blew me away with it's subtle flames. I love the flat sawn kinda middle and the strong flames on the outside.
I've seen pics of other R9 Iced Tea models and they look a bit more amber and less yellow, so I hope it's the overexposure of the camera on these pics, and otherwise it's still a beauty . She's 8.57 lbs so not too heavy and not too light. I'm getting her next week... I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning hehehe
I finally got her last week. She's a healthy 3.9 kg (8.59 lbs)
Oh man, she sounds amazing, very resonant and open. Tight deep lows, crystal clear highs and really punchy mids. I didn't love the burstbuckers from earlier years, but these new custombuckers are the sh*t! I don't see a reason to swap them out for others atm. I love the neck, it's fat but more like a C-shape and very comfortable. The neck was a bit too straight when I got her, so almost every fret buzzed. After a quick setup it was dead on perfect. I already installed some montreux bonnet knobs and pickup covers which I aged myself and gil yaron rings
