Nice figure, love the grain and that colour is beautiful.
It must be time for a family pic again? (Please!)

Thanks,
I had some concern about the grain figure on the board and gave it a try anyways.I'm really happy on how it turned out.The dish on these R8s are real cool as well.

It is simply gorgeous, I would not have taken that chance....but I did learn something....

Awesome choice. :)

I'm a customer.
I'm retired now so I can hangout there a lot now.I have been going there for 41 years. They treat me like family.I'm very fortunate.I bought my first Les Paul there.
Yeah, actually on the que from my Australian friend Rudi were trying to get Gibson to make some CR8s this year thru Curt. They finally agreed to it but,(there is always a but, right?) there was limits on things and with more pieces the limits are fewer.I could only get 3 commitments on the CR8 bus and we needed 5 at least.
So .....long story short Curt and I just used the tops and wood we picked for the CR8s and had them made into R8s with a choice of two colors from BOTB page 93 and page 109.

Correct. :thumb: I owned four 2007 CR8's which I have sold. The last one was sold to a member here a few weeks ago.

I had asked Michael if Gibson were doing any CR8's because we both like them & I had not seen any this year.

I mentioned to Michael that the only guitar I would consider having made in a special run was a CR8 (knowing that I'll more than likely miss my last one) & commented that maybe a small run of say five could be made.

My thinking was 2014 because I have recently received my Retrospec Burst 006 & about to take delivery of another Guitar (see Avatar).

Before I knew it........:wow:.........Michael & Curt discussed this with Gibson & he came back to me with a selection of really nice tops. I couldn't do anything on this in 2013, so the rest is history.

Michael that top produced a really nice R8. :wow: :thumb: :applause:

Cheers, Rudi

HNGD...beautiful colour!

This side by side photo comparison is a great example of how a top grain pattern can change during the top carving process...the treble side has the same grain patten but the bass side has quite a notable change in the grain pattern around the bridge pickup and the tailpiece...it is amazing how one area can change so much and other areas stay the same...the same thing happened when I picked the top for my replacement VOS Beano. :)
