Snagged this off local craigslist. Killer deal for it too, couldn't refuse. Guitar was very dusty with corroded strings, probably not touched in a very long time. Couple shots of Lemon Oil soaked right in, and the wood still looks a little light.

Quick little cleanup, some new strings, and she plays like a dream. Little more work to do with action and pickup heights, and also a new nut is on it's way in the mail.

Probably going to set this up for mostly slide work. Action will be just slightly higher than my #1, making it still easily playable without slide. Tuning will be in some form of open tuning.

Kind of wish it was one of the newer Custom's with the push/pull volume for coil splitting, but this is just fine the way she is.

Oh yeah, and the double stand you see in the pic that I also just got rocks. Love it. Ok....back to work....

If you dont mind... How much did you give for it, did it come with a case?

Is that supposed to be a swimsuit bottom?

4-bones including hard SKB case. I knew I could have gotten a new model with case for around 503, but I was hoping for an earlier year. The owner had no idea what year it was. Was given to him as a gift.

Only thing altered on the guitar was Schaller strap locks....which I'm on the fence about replacing with Dunlop. I'm only used to Dunlop, but maybe the Schaller are better? :hmm:

Hell of a deal if you ask me! I thought those were $599 new...

Still, a custom with a case, in that condition, great deal!

No. Mine is a MIK 2008 so it's just regular controls.

Not a huge fan of the SBs but I have to say that looks sweet. Good deal too man.

As for Schallers vs Dunlops - in previous straplok threads, most people seem to prefer Schallers although I'm in the Dunlop camp.

HNGD!

I got mine new for $540 with a used case a few years ago. I think they bounce back and forth between $600 and $700 new, but they're on sale for $500 right now.

Throw a SD JB in the bridge, and it'll really come to life!

anyone got a suggestion on where to buy new volume/tone knobs for Epiphones? I replaced them on my #1, but don't remember where I got them from, and typical searches on Google is turning up garbage.

Wondering now if I bought Gibson knobs for my #1 and forced them on....

between this Custom and my Standard, these pickups seem quite abit hotter, that or I have a grounding problem.

There is abit more hiss out of my amp when the Custom is plugged in...

I was never a huge fan of the Silverburst when I first saw them a few years ago. But damned if yours doesn't look sweet.

Shoot, I haven't even begun adding my flavor to it. That is soon to come.

I'll start slowly, then get to gutting the insides. For now, gotta get rid of those ugly speed knobs, get a new guitar strap that flows with the guitar color, and replace the nut.

Next will be replace the bridge and maybe the tailpiece.
