How can one go wrong with this beauty? Had one years ago and still can't recall why I sold it..

Enjoy!

Very nice! Did you try out the P100 or simply pop it out?

Thanks

I did try it. It gives out a very bland tone, nothing stands out. Doesn't sound like a P90 or a humbucker. Very anemic on a clean setting. Probably OK for chüg-chüg heäd bänging high gain I guess, but I'll never know, I don't have chüg-chüg amps or pedals

Pretty much what I found with mine; at best a very thin sound that doesn't bite like a P90 but also doesn't hit the mark for a humbucker either. I thought I didn't really like the guitar until I put a P90 in it.

Man, those were nice. So nice, you can’t find them anywhere. I saw one a few years ago used at Sam Ash store in Cincinnati. The price tag was beyond belief. I grabbed it to check it out, and it had really been knocked around. More damage than I wanted to deal with, even at the low price. What a let down.

I have a yellow '07. It needed a good cleaning, new strings and and a setup. One small crack in the paint on the side, but no buckle rash. I will change out the P-100 eventually. Paid $400 CAD last year and I don't think I overpaid, really.

Mine was a great deal at 275 CAD with hard case.

No need to wait to replace the P100. I bought the cheapest Dog Ear P90 and it sounds fabulous. I have yet to play a P90 that doesn't sound good.

Congrats! Like everyone has already said, those are some great guitars. I kick myself for not getting one when they were out there.

I scored one of these about 6 months ago, i adore it. Like you i immediately swapped out the P100 for a P90 (and redid the rather messy wiring job at the same time).... congratulations, they are amazing guitars, especially for the relatively small outlay :)
There are 2 on ebay in the UK at the moment (both from the same seller) - they're the only ones I've seen pop up since getting mine and I keep asking myself why someone hasn't bought them, they show up so rarely.

The one with the SD P90 !
I thought mine had the pole pieces misaligned. This one is real bad !

On mine I broke a cover screw in the body. Instead of trying to extract it, I positionned the new P90 about 2mm to the right and it got the pole pieces straight under the strings.

Congrats!

I had this same guitar, but the seller had already P-90'd it with a Duncan Antiquity, and replaced the bridge with an intonatable one.

It sounded and played great, but I ultimately decided I prefer Specials, I missed the neck pickup too much.

OK now ...

I know about the honeymoon thing with a new guitar, and all. But this thing is ... a monster or a mistress, depending.
Gnarly, sustain 'till tomorrow, fat full hand grab neck, incredible tuning stability, spot on intonation with minimalist wraparound, etc, etc. And I can't believe how that $21.99 Chinese Dog Ear sounds.

I keep shifting to my other guitars that sound great, but this one ...

Ahhh ... that Super Champ eh ? If you have a chance to try it with an external cab, you'll fall off your chair. I play mine through a 2X10 and it's another ball game.

Nice one! I'd be ashamed to ship a guitar without cleaning it, but I guess some people are clueless. But it's nice to have the who thing clean and fresh now that it's yours. Good PU swap. There are so many good P90s that it's silly to stick with a mediocre P100 as your single pickup. I absolutely love Juniors. They're extremely limited tonally, but what they do, they do amazingly well. And I find that the absence of controls and switches naturally leads you to focus a bit more on what you're playing, not minor tonal variances.

So ... Chinese pickup I bought sounds great ... like all P90 should. Clean is chimy, OD is growly. Skies didn't open with singing angels, but for $21.99, no complaints.

Then ... this comes up locally, for less than the above Chinese pickup. AND, period correct for my 2006 Jr !

What do you think I did ? :hmm:
