Maybe try these from WD for a pickguard.

It says at the top "Please note that the Les Paul® Deluxe is similar to the Gibson® Les Paul®. It will only fit a genuine Gibson® Les Paul® Deluxe with mini humbuckers"

And nice guitar, I really fancy the Tobacco Burst from the Norlin era!

Measure the pickup spacing.....ie the gap between the two routs on the inside. Contact mojoaxe and say you want a p90 cream guard with that spacing. They can also age it so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm posting this in case anyone had the historic lp 54 pickguard and could compare. (or any matching pickguard). But I will also send this pic to Mojoaxe and see what they can do. :)
Thanks guys!

Beautiful Deluxe! Welcome in Norlin club. :)

I especially like those tobacco bursts, they are fairly hard to find though.

Thanks!
I've been playing the Deluxe every evening since last tuesday. It's a bit too early to say it's the best sound I ever got out from a guitar, but I can say she speaks to my guts. That's a very different feeling than just ear pleasing. The Deluxe also inspires me to play differently! Not sure why but it has something to do with the way the strings resonate and how the pickups are responsive to the attack.

By metric I meant the nashville over the abr1. :)
Maybe it's not metric! I wouldn't drill anything for sure! Only have harmless options. Sorry for the confusion.

you mean you will not rout it out? c'mon man!

IMO the neck pick-up on a deluxe is the cat's ass.....

that thing really looks great, glad it is working for you bro.

Thanks!

congrats ! that's a nice looking guitar. it appears to still be in pretty good shape, too. I know I wouldn't do any mods to it except like you said and get another pick guard/scratch plate.

That's a killer looking guitar. It was VERY well taken care. I'd leave it as is. I think it should sing with the voice that's all its own. I picked up my bruised and scared '77 LP Deluxe from a pawnshop, and all I did was repair a cracked neck. I really love it for what it is. These older Norlins really deserve to stay the way they are after surviving this long in without any mods. Just my .02. :)

Yeah I agree. But since I could make it a tad cleaner (very tiny buzz from the bridge) I could use some Tonepros. But to be 100% honest the more I play it the less I care about my usual concern.

Congrats, an awesome Tobacco burst! I have a 75 factory standard in that finish and for some reason have always wanted a 74 Deluxe in Tobacco burst.

Thanks! I must admit I'm the same for a very short era of Norlin. All of the 79-83 LPs are now on my radar.
:p
I also took more pics I wanna share:

That's beautiful! Nice score.
I like the pick guard too, it'll be worth finding one IMO.

I'm now torn apart. I usually find my own answer but anyways, here's the deal.
My collector side wants to keep it as stock as possible, but my player-modder side wants to put some nickel parts.
Should I get her a Nashville Tonepros set or a Faber metric ABR1 or should I leave her like she is?
If you change the bridge, you will change the sound of the guitar. I'd keep it stock - there's nothing wrong with the Nashville bridge. You actually get more play with the saddles without having to turn them around to intonate.

I'm changing out my Nashville bridge only because it's shiny chrome and sticks out like a sore thumb on my '78 goldtop which is heavily rode worn and the pickup covers are tarnished. I'll be going with an aged Callaham ABR1 with Nashville studs. Pricey but worth it.
