NGD: 1977 Greco EG500 (corrected)

Because everyone needs at least three Grecos and my last Greco (White SG style) showed up with a "dislocated" neck I decided to take the plunge again with this bad boy here. I just took these in my office so i haven't had an opportunity to open it up and inspect it, but based on the color and the year I suspect it's an EG700T with U-2000s. The owner didn't know much about the guitar, but believed it all original and had not modified it since owning it. It's 2pc veneer flame top and it's clearly weight relieved. Even without weighing it I bet it's 8-9lbs. I had a '78 with the pancake and that boy was HEAAAVY. The buckle rash on the back is awesome. Anyway, am I off on this guess of the model?

Can't help myself...and I have a tool set in my office for just such an occasion. Everything looks original to me. I didn't take pictures, but the frets and polished with no divots or excessive wear. Really excited to get this home and plug it in.

Congrats! The 700s should be solid around this time. You probably have a 500 there with U-1000 pickups which are nice Alnico 8 pickups.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was unsure of which models were solid and hollow in those years. I did look over the catalog and for some reason didn't consider the EG500. I have played the U-1000 pickups on a 79 and I did notice they were very similar. I do enjoy the weight relief, but I was surprised to see just how hollow it was once your remove the pickups. As a result its my loudest electric when played unplugged as I don't own any sort of hollow body.
