I picked up this all original 1976 Les Paul Custom today. Definitely a fun guitar. Weight doesn’t bother me and I typically do not pay attention to a guitars weight, however I would be remiss to not mention that this one weighs 9lbs 8oz. Crazy.

*This could be a record for the lightest Norlin LPC ever.

This guitar has a super fast neck. The original frets feel great and bending notes is effortless.

Out of the 10 Les Paul Customs I currently have here,
(74,76,76,77,78,81,82,87,87,06),
the one I picked up today absolutely SMOKES the others as far it’s high gain tone. SMOKES the others. I have a modded 1969 Fender Bassman head that has been converted into a pseudo Soldano SLO High Gain amplifier by Jack Kivolowitz of RocknRoll Amps. I was nailing the high gain sound in my head I’ve been searching for for years. It sounds killer. When cleaned up, I was getting that “Boy’s Are Back In Town” Thin Lizzy 70’s distortion. I was also totally nailing and crushing the early Black Sabbath tone.
This guitar is killer.
I don’t get this excited too often, but this guitar though…WHOA.

Congrats!!! As a fellow owner of a 1976 Custom I couldn’t agree more with this. And that weight is amazing. I thought mine was light at just over 10lb.

I originally wanted a wine red one but couldn’t find one all original like yours. That’s in amazing condition! Fortunately I came across my 1976 Black Beauty on the forum classifieds and it’s become my favorite guitar for the reasons you mentioned. These are absolute hard rock beasts, tight, focused, and in your face. I love hammering out Motley Crue riffs on it. Here’s a pic of my 76.

A nice one and congratulations,Your guitar appears to be in mint condition.

I owned the same color combination ‘76/‘77 LPC guitar for about 30 years.

Congrats! Great looking guitar. Just picked up a 73 LPC with a similar weight - 9.88 lbs. I guess not all Norlins are boat anchors after all!
