Brown truck came today and brought this from Dave's. I'm trading in my 03 R7 Custom. I've decided everything thats not being played is outta here. So far I've put this through the inspection paces and re-strung it. The setup was the best I've seen in a new guitar. I only had to raise the upper action a hair. So now I have two R8's, my #1 Peaches (2012 ITea VOS) and the new girl who has yet to get a name...but we have decided she's a keeper. :applause:

I forgot how shiny polished nickel is....might have to creamtone her.

Laun at Dave's is great to deal with and a patient man. :D :thumb:

true, these NGD threads are pretty rare in these parts over the last year or so. Glad you could make it work for you. Congrats!

Congrats - very nice

And yes, Laun is absolutely one of the most patient and informative people I have bought from ever. There are 3 dealers I immediately go to if I am looking for something and Dave's is one of those 3 - Tylor, Laun and Dave are great to deal with.

Congrats. I keep staring at that plain top, though. Sweet finish.
Out of curiosity, what does the set up out of the box matter? Do you associate that with the quality of the instrument?

Edited: Yeah the plain top is a mojo machine. Killer finish, neck profile and tone. I bought it right after the 2013's came out for $2600 NOS with full warranty. It had the "2012 Plague". It's been #1 for 4 years and I doubt anything will come along that will unseat it.

Great question on the setup but it's more with QC. I have seen some bad ones even on historic's from a fundamentals perspective.

AH...the Monday morning line at the unemployed comedy center is long this week I see.:laugh2:

One question I have is what the "S" is for in the model number on the 2016.

2012: LPR8
2016: LPR8S ???? Is this to denote it's a "standard" Reissue as opposed to "TH"?

Not fast enough, parts have been ordered. :naughty:
