NGD … 2007 CR8 Faded Tobacco

So I pondered the ML’s on MLP … stopped in to see one of a few and it did not cure the GAS … in fact made it much worse…
I toyed with a new Tele …but almost every time I get a new fender I’m disappointed… this true for all but three… I must be a spoiled little brat a Self indulgent cork sniffer of the first order… I can’t fkin stand it anymore…
so I considered another HM … but I’m impatient… gimme now… gimme cheap..

then I saw this…

A 2007 CR8 … these are simply amazing guitars… lightweight, big neck … every one I have seen has an amazing fretboard.



this one is no exception either… it’s 7lbs 4oz

my other one is 7lbs 6oz …. Ouch …

but that fretboard feels like a braz one (I know it isn’t)

I think the electronics are swapped out… nothing looks Gibson … but pro done..

It has BB-3’s in it…

it has a very nice top pretty strong flame …but not R9 Flame.

I’m going to take it to Band on Sunday and run it through the Marshals…

Check out this website, it has the whole history, it was created and maintained by one of the creators of the CR series/.

One of mine is listed in there # CR8 7061

And the one I just got is CR8 7071 and the two tops are somewhat similar ...

I had to look! Beauty! I like the color on most I have seen where the Burdon leans Tabacco or vice vesra.
Mine are both listed. CR6 is #3 , CR8 is # 31 from the first run. I want another!
We need to see the twins side by side...lovely eye candy!

Well I can tell you that their voices are very different from other conventional Les Paul's just by the nature of the chambering ....(think 335 ish) but not a hollow body....

And between these two, they are certainty very different voicings one is lively and bright and the other is dark and heavy....I have to plug them in together and see whats what....

I recall one of our menbers who owned several CR's described them as 90% les Paul and 10% 335. I would simply say mainly Les Paul with some 335 qualities....that 335 thing with them is something that I dig! Not too much but just enough.
