been trying a few different 50’s & 60’s standards looking to get my first one & I think I’m settled on this one (i hope haha) preferring bigger necks lately but this might be the biggest, still getting used to it but I love the weight & I think I’m happy with the burstbucker pickups always looking for the right sound. still on the hunt for a goldtop but my burst GAS may be satisfied. anyone care to chime in on what an R7/R8 is like in comparison to the 50’s neck?

Nice. I like that kind of flame on the production models.

In my experience, the 50s Standard neck profile sits somewhere between a ‘58 and a current ‘59 RI. It’s the same general shape of a ‘58, but the depth measures more like a ‘59. The first time I tried a ‘58, it felt comfortable and just a bit thicker than my 50s Standard. Very familiar feeling. Again, a current 59 has roughly the same depth measurement as a 50s Standard, but it does feel thinner because of the smaller shoulders of the 59.

Thanks for the replies everyone! @Christosterone i feel ya trust me, I wish didn’t have to save & plan for months to make a purchase like this haha, layaway plans (& the nature of my work maintaining 40 hours) allowed me to get into this thankfully. I had also come to a conclusion to consolidate the majority of my mid priced gear to get 1-2 guitars & 1-2 amps I really enjoy & haven’t regretted it, my music room is also a lot roomy than I remember!

I also recently consolidated my guitars and amps (quality over quantity). It was the best move I could have made. Good on you for doing the same.
