Newer Tokai's vs Orville

So recently due to being in some hot water with the law had to sell my first LP I ever bought, a 1992 Orville LP which ,as an understatement, hurt a little bit. So as I am saving up again I would like another Orville, and if I can find one for a steal, an Orville by Gibson Les Paul. Yet I have noticed on elame (ebay) that the newer Tokai's are around the same price as the Orville LP's I am looking at (specifically the Custom's). I was wondering does anyone have any experience with the newer Tokai's and if so how they compare with the Orville's?

mate, that sucks ... i recently had to let go of my 96 Orville unwillingly too ... no idea re: newer Tokais, but good luck.

i can however recommend Edwards LP's ...

The new prod Tokai's I had, while nicely made instruments, seemed to lack "it" for me. Personally I would search high and low for a 80's/90's Greco, Burny or OBG/Orville before buying new prod.

My cousin has a Tokai gold top..bought about year and a half ago...honestly it compares with my Epi and my Gibson...lovely guitar

Just tryed out the newer Tokai yesterday. It looks and sounded like a stock Epi LP Standard to me.

I just tried out a '50s 'burst and it was almost as good as a Chinese Epiphone...


If you modded it a bit...

Are we talking about MIC Tokais or MIJ Tokais? Because I haven't seen the Epiphone that the cheapest MIJ Tokai wouldn't leave in its dust. Maybe a good MIJ Elitist would compare, but otherwise...
