Hi guys,

I found a LP Junior in my moms garage, brand new in the box. Problem is it was some sort of promo item for a Radio station, so it had some stupid artwork on a paper template the shape of the body, and a full body, clear acrylic guard on top holding the art in place, as opposed to just a pick guard. It also came with a p-90 soap bar not dog ear. It came straight from Gibson's factory like this (it has the shipping label on the box from (Elm Pike, Nashville, TN). I called Gibson and they're telling me the serial number is showing as an Explorer and suggested it may be counterfeit however like I said I have the shiiping label to prove its from them. I'd love to know what year or model it is. The thing that bugs me is that full body cover, ( does it affect the sound?) and if I take it off there are screw holes all around. I removed the artwork and put the guard back. H I have some pictures if anyone can help me Identify this guitar and tell me if its worth keeping.

Thanks,
BP
P.S. Is it a good guitar to learn on or too much?

I would say it would be a great guitar to learn on.
I would probably just remove the clear guard that was keeping the art work on and leave the screws out of it.
Just wondering if it has an 8 digit serial #.
Post some pics, it'll help others figure it out for you.

I figured out how to reduce file size and attached pictures to my original message above.

Thanks again for all of your help.

I'd be inclined to remove the plastic cover and get some black dome top allen (socket head) screws or even some counter sunk ones for it in place of the other screws, would look pretty cool I think.
Either way , I wish I could find stuff like this in my mum's garage lol

I'd put it back in the garage.

or....

give it to a good Luthier and let them fix that thing.

Do you still have the art work that was underneath the plexi~glass?

I'll bet if you include that in a pic to Gibson they will be able to give you more info on it.

Their serial number sequencing is not the greatest system in the world & they keep tweaking it!
