This is my first experience with WB pickups, but not my first experience with after-market pickups. I wanted something better for my '86 Standard than the stock pickups, and decided that I'd try WB pickups.

I talked to Will on the phone about the tone that I was looking for (warm, round, but with bite and punch as well--think Slash's tone) and he suggested the Habaneros. Will was very helpful and personable. He also asked me to call him after I had a chance to play through them to let him know what I thought. I ordered the Habanero set the Friday before Labor Day. The pickups arrived here in Oklahoma on Tuesday (day after Labor Day).

I installed the Habaneros (double black, no cover) and after having some time to play on them, I can say that I'm very pleased with the results. I realize now just how muddy and bland those ol' stock pickups were.

The Habaneros give my Standard a more focused sound and the sustain is terrific. I can go from polite clean jazzy tones to rude punchy rock n' roll with these pickups, but the clarity is ALWAYS there. Even with the tone rolled all the way off, the pickups never get muddy. The neck pickup offers up a warm round sound and the notes ring clean and full, even the bass notes. The bridge pickup is crisp and clear, and is never brittle, but has a great bite to it.

Overall, my guitar's tonal range is so much more broad and the expression really comes through because of the clarity of the pickups. I'd like to say THANK YOU to Will and everybody at WB pickups. I'm very happy with the service and the product. Great pickups!

Yes, and as the postal carrier handed me the box, he said "careful, this is hot"! :dude:

Also: the trick with the aligator clip on the screw to keep the spring from flying across the room...works like a charm!

Habeneros', Smokin Tone, They are truly a pickup above the Hype.
Any one that wants that vintage "HOT TONE THANG" That works for all Les Paul's and amp combinations should look no further.
