Any P-90 Les Paul is a win. Not sure why a boost is needed. And, do quiet P-90's ever sound like P-90's?? I'm taking my 9 pound Murphy Lab R6 out for 3 sets tonight. Wish my body luck!! Tomorrow's gig will be the humbucker night, at 7.6 lbs! (a rare double header this weekend).

Almost like Gibson had this guitar in mind and was looking for someone to slap their good name on it.
Ever hear of Keifer Sutherland?

By the same token, I own a Gibson Les Paul Custom 68 Reissue, and I have to wonder what was the original issue?
Gibson built nothing like it in 1968.

Signature or not, that’s a cool Les Paul.

Ever hear his music? It’s not too bad. He toured the UK last year.

I don’t doubt that the guy can play.

But if I were to compile a list of people that Gibson could legitimately produce a signature guitar for, his name would have never even entered my consideration.

To me, playing rhythm just doesn't show what P90s can do... They have a clearer top end than buckers but still they don't stand out.... Heat the amp up and do a bend and to me the difference becomes a bit obvious, especially with the amp cranked....

When a young ass teen, late big bros road band had two guitarists, both played Goldies...a 69 Deluxe w/ minis and a 57 with P90s..... Both through the Traynor Twins from hell, one combo w/ external cab, other was the head version with external.... Both mondo badass players (57 player owns studio near Nash now, degreed in classical gtr perf)... Even then, listening to those two wail all the damn time and playing both guitars any time I wanted, there was no comparison to be confused when going sailing on those guitars... Obvious.... especially snatching a bend lower on the neck....

To me, in my dumbass redneck opinion, with no tangible proof, nor give a shit if any agree/disagree, a bend on a P90 vs a Bucker is different. Magnet? Coil dimensions? Poles? GPS of poles to coil dimensions through bend travel? Who the hell knows. There is a difference... I heard it every time I played em... Another bud brought his 52 in the shop all the time back then and I'd play it when I worked there after school... same thing as the 57..... Snatch a bend and it sounded like you lost no fat during the bend vs bending on a bucker the content seems to change during bend travel... Do a bend on third or fourth fret on one of your buckers on each string and then do the same on your special through the same amp same settings. Towards the nut makes it even more obvious to me...

Resurrecting old thread as I played one of these today. Great feeling and looking guitar! If I had the money I’d have walked out with it.

Not sure about the boost, it didn’t have a battery in it.
Musta been a GC, lol.
