New vs. old strings

Not a fan of brand new strings, but love them after about a 3-4 hr break in time, then they just get changed when I feel it’s time - no real rhyme or reason behind it for me - for reference, my strings of choice are the Gibson reissue 10-46 gauge strings

I like new strings after a gig or two, wiping them down after each night, of course...they're too brittle-bright for my ear...when the drummer notices it, well, what can you say? Not cutting the drummer as a person, just saying when it reaches the back with the amp facing front...wow...

As a side note, something I didn’t take into consideration here until I saw @Wrench66 response.

I used to used Ernie Ball Super Slinky’s 10’s. They were fine, but I switched to the D’Addario EXL-125’s I like them more for my kind of playing (mostly bluesy).

I felt the Ernie Balls wore out too quickly.
