New Standard 60s...what case should come with it?

As I've posted a few times, I just got a new '19 Standard 60s in Bourbon Burst and could not be happier with the guitar, the transaction with local GC and Gibson QC in general.

After reading another happy new LP owner talking about the case they got with theirs in a recent post, I started wondering which one is supposed to come with the new Standards, if there is "standard" Standard case?

After I bought the LP, one of the GC guys brought this TKL case out from the back with all case candy, docs, etc and I was overjoyed.

Does anyone know? Guess I could email Gibson but kinda hate to bug them if the answer is more easily found here?

Not that big a deal, just wondering?

Thanks @PierM, didn't know if Gibson was switching from TKL to another maker?

They are probably stocking from a different manufacturer for the 2020 batches, but TLK always been the one used in the past, even on 2019.

I have a Standard 50’s, the TKL is a great case for my needs. If I was traveling with my delicate flower, I’d probably buy a flight case.

Don't know if it's model specific or based upon production date, but apparently some of the new cases are being made in China. So consider yourself lucky getting a nice TKL

I’ve had three different cases with the recent Standards... TKL (Canada), Unknown Manufacturer (China), and the CWW (Costa Rica). It appears that they’ve switched to the China case for the 2020 year, and quite possibly used the CWW during the transition. I’ll post some pics of my case here in a few.

Being able to compare all three, I most prefer the Costa Rica case. Feels much more solid (albeit heavier), has a flatter top, and just looks a bit higher quality in person. Definitely an odd ball... I don't suspect you'll see many of these with the Standard. Cool by me. I like having an anomaly. I especially like the almost flat top versus the arched top.

The CWW case is a bit larger, as evidenced by the thicker sidewall padding in the body area.

The Costa Rica cases are well made, but I swear they are using lead in the lids. The two I own are almost as heavy as anvil road cases.

Agreed. But, I'm not complaining. Very sturdy and solid feeling compared to the TKL.

I have a 2019 and a 2020 and the 2020 I noticed is slightly different. It has extra reinforcement on the bottom.

Yes. The Chinese cases have the stitching on the bottom.

I have a 2019 Traditional and a 50's Standard. As far as I can tell, both cases are the same (TKL Canada) with the exception of one thing: one of them has six locks on it (four on the front, two on the back) whereas the other has five (four front and one back).

The six lock case came with a Standard 50’s I bought and returned. I still have it because when I first got the Traditional, the case wouldn't close properly. I ended up getting it replaced by the retailer. Problem is, the replacement case had the same issue, though slightly less. I bought a 50’s Standard from the same retailer which didn’t cut it, so I shipped it back in the Traditional case (identical save for the different number of locks).

My 2016 Traditional case is heavier than my 2019 Classic. The 2019 case seems cheaper and a bit tighter on room in the case.
