Last week, the wife and I decided it was time to retire my old Explorer and get me a newer truck. Today I became the proud owner of a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer....

It ain't 'new' new, but it's a lot more cushy than my old truck.

Nice, how are you liking it so far? Looks solid! Whats under the hood?

I dig it. I actually stepped up in the engine department - the Explorer was a V6, this one's a 5.0 liter V8. And while I'm going to rip the stock radio out and put in the one from the Explorer (a really bangin' Alpine), it's way higher on creature comforts - leather seats, power this, power that.

But at the end of the day there was one thing that led me to buy this truck - I can fit all the necessary gear in it to do whatever gig I happen to be doing on a given day. None of the other trucks I looked at were big enough.

Priorities, kids. Priorities. :thumb:

Sweet looking Ride. Looks like lots of room for a half stack and tons of gear. Congrats.

what'd you do with the explorer?

I'm passing it on to a family member who needs transportation.

It's a little beat down body-wise, but the engine and trans are still pretty strong, so off it goes.

Cool ride. A real gear and people hauler.
Good job.
We got's mini van and I proudly drive it despite a friend of mine who would never be caught dead in one.
Hey we all gotta drive and I like the larger ones as do you i see.
Good luck I had great luck on the only Ford i ever owned, a 1989 Taurus SHO. I got 12 years of fun and vroom outta that Ford. I'm a GM guy, but I go astray now and again:D

Have fun:fingersx::thumb:
