I am not sure if rounding off and thickening the top of the saddle helps at all. I swapped off the original ABR on my one owner ‘61 LP SG Standard and replaced it with a a Gotoh bridge that fit for under $30USD that improved it’s tone. One thing about the Gotoh is that it comes with “shallow starter slots” which are very narrow, they Improve tone, and IMO the string “pass over” area on the bridge should be as narrow as possible. Another thing is on the Gotoh, the saddle screws are firmly attached to the bridge body, and don’t sit in a “U” shaped slot, with or without those spring wires. I must say that I am no fan of the original ABR bridge. I don’t think reverse engineering will help it.
