"...limited edition...":hmm:

"...hand wired..." :hmm:

I don't want to piss on the party, but to my mind those phrases have never been associated with something "affordable".

Question for the Orange afficionados: was that HF drive control on the originals or is it a modern touch?

Yep, my gut tells me (and it's a big gut) that the OR15 will likely be made in the UK, not China and I bet these will sell in the $1100-1300 range. The OR50 will likely be more than double that. I better start selling some stuff off and padding the Paypal account!

I went back and read the article again and it doesn't look like they are stating that the 15W version is hand wired and limited edition. In fact, they don't really address it at all which leads me to believe that the amp will be like the Terror series - i.e. Made in China. Who know, maybe I'm wrong.

I actually hope that they are made in the UK. I love my Chinese made Dual Terror but for resale value I would like a UK made amp.

yeah they do separate the two amps like that. they say the 50 is hand wired but don't say that about the 15. I hope it's not in a terror lunchbox chassis. I just assumed that they would be the same amp just lower wattage. We'll just have to wait and see!

Re reading it, they only state the 50 Watt version to be hand wired, limited ed, etc, etc. But they do state that both amps have the same wooden cab and cosmetic.

I infer from this that the 15 Watt version will look the same, but be made using the usual PCBs with surface-mounted components, including valve bases. I have nothing against PCB construction as such: the early Marshall PCB amps are just more consistent versions of the amps they replaced, using the same components. So the PCB is not the issue for me. The issue is mounting the valve bases directly on it. That's a no-no for me in any amp that I consider to be more than a throw away. Valves need to be hot to work, and heat + PCB = problems, so this is a no-brainer for me.

I hope they mount the valve bases on the chassis. And if they don't, I wish they did.:D
