Hello everyone, they let me on here. I've been reading for years and learned a lot from you guys. Need to learn more, I got gas like a lot of us..... Don't really need one but, you know. Here is what, r8 or 9 with a fat fat neck. I already have an r7 and 2013 traditional and am hooked on the fat necks. Love these, but just one more.....
Been looking around at the prices all over reverb and sweetwater, gbase, even craigs. Good high prices. I want this to be one of the last ones, so getting picky in my old age. Gotta have a pretty good flame, not crazy, hide glue and the longest tennon they can stuff in there without sticking out through the other side! All the good stuff.
Things I don't need are are vos, and don't want mine touched by Murphy, but seems like everything out there is vos this murphy that. How about a regular one that I can age a little at a time, long post for my first one! Thanks for your understanding. Let me have it.

Go and hang out in the MLP classifieds. My last GAS episode only lasted a few days due to my visiting the classifieds every few hours! Or post a "I'm looking for a R8/9 with a fat neck" ad, and you'll be getting responses in no time at all.

Cool, thanks for the advice. Seems like gas prices are going up. Again. I did find a pretty nice gloss 58 on wildwood. A little over 6 grand, not aged or vos. A nice top and regular gloss finish. I will start checking the adds here.
I'm thinking of thinning the heard a little to help ease the pain. Couple of strats and maybe my gretch. I never really reach for them, I just like them. Never play them. I miss them when they're gone. Something is coming.

Right now there are several gloss R8s on Reverb.

Been looking around here and there. Been reading around here, ran into all kinds of gummy neck on vos, and murhy chipping stories. 6 to 10 grand for an r9 or a little less for an r8 plaintop. I'm getting gun shy. Still, I need one. Looks like I need a glossy factory burst. With a fat neck, cherry back. Hyde glue all over he place. When it finally comes.......
Least I have time to sell off a couple and save up lots of cash while the search continues. Maybe the prices will get a little better on good used ones as the depression wears on. I know I'll pay good when I find it!

Another vote for Made2Measure here.

I just got a M2M LP Custom, waited a little over a year for it.
Spectacular.

Les Pauls have came and went, this one is forever.

And welcome from Texas.
What part of the world are you in?

I'm kind of guessing here, but I think you should be able to get a used R8 for $4K or possibly even less. I bought a 2 year used R0 "F" (ie, highly figured) in Nov 2019 on this very forum for $3500. Prices can't have gone up that much, can they? I think people are shooting for astronomical amounts on Reverb because a couple years ago they could actually get an astronomical price due to stimulus money and all that. Also what people are asking on Reverb and what they are actually selling for are very different things.

That's my fave, seller said it's sold. 8500?! It's scary. That has everything!!! A strange beautiful combo of features, dreamy... I guess it could be made to order. Don't have anywhere near that kind f money, glad it sold so I can move on. I was already thinking of stuff to sell and I already drink cheap beer so.... yeah reverb prices are not great yet. Kinda got my mind set on the 60th anniversary, the right one will come, so will the cash. The hunt is half the fun, the money is something else.

4, 6, 7, 8 ,9 ,0?

Don’t matter if the neck, looks, playability, etc… suit you.

Lots of R8s out there with tops that just slay most R9s.

There’ll always be another one that will come to make you lust after it.

The important thing is that you bond with it regardless of what the serial says.

Couple of those wildwood 58 gloss look pretty damn good! Nice tops and fat necks. Gotta move some of mine, Get some money going. Glad to see gloss is less than vos. It's not hard to put a little age on nickel...
