Really, really nice Chris. The tiger eye finish came out great. Glad you went in that direction. :thumb:

Just stunning Chris! It's incredible that a man can just teach himself to make an instrument that rivals or exceeds the quality of one coming from the most high end manufacturers. This really gives me something to aspire to. Are we going to get any vid clips so we can hear how your grand creation sounds?

Thanks man. :)

Although I didn't teach myself. MLP and all the awesome people here taught me :)

I don't know about a video, but I'm definitely going to record some audio.

You and me both, man. I almost chickened out for fear of screwing it up, but I let MLP convince me to give it a go and I'm really happy with how it turned out :)

Turned out beautifully! I'm glad you challenged yourself with trying the tiger eye finish. It really came out perfect.

you gotta be one proud papa...and rightfully so.

For sure. I broke it in at band rehearsal last night and its really fantastic. It plays smoothly and easily, and sounds great with night tight lows and a punchy mid-tone I really like.
Took a little adjusting. Its my first time really playing a guitar with a 25" scale length. My 22 special is 24 3/4" and my phoenix is 25 1/2" so I'm a little off, but I got dialed in pretty quickly.

I gotta say man, that is just stunning.
In all honesty, one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever laid eyes on.
Well done!

Its the whole package, dude. That braz fretboard I got from you is the centerpiece :)

Yeah, that's a good one, too! But this is my favorite:

Actually, they ALL look good ... a good pic needs a good model! :)

Yeah, I like this one too. Its actually more representative of the actual color. My buddy Jim said "root beer" as soon as he laid eyes on it, and thats actually a pretty apt description of the color. The darker areas are like root beer, and the highlights are more gold/yellow. Its really sweet, and for a visually busy guitar it comes across pretty classy.

My biggest challenge now is that I cant seem to get any photo's that wind up looking like what I see with my eyes. All my photo's make it look orange.

I guess thats what separates good photographers from duffers :)

Or how about this block? -

I almost bought it. I could have gotten about 30 fret boards out of it but I chose a smaller piece and got 10 with more heartwood. I did notice the sapwood was quite a bit lighter, so wonder whether it would be that great tonally??

Cheers Peter.

I don't know about tone, but damn!

Not sure what wood that is, but my own bras fretboard on this build was half sapwood which is i guess slightly less dense but nowhere near soft enough for it to be an issue, but the board as a whole had the most awesome tap tone I've ever heard from a blank somthe sapwood half was not exactly sucking the tone from it :)

That sure is purdy.

My next couple builds will be using materials I have on hand. I'm broke :)
