Interesting. I wonder how they'll compete with themselves in quality - Japanese ESP isnt second to American builders from what I've played.
I sort of wonder if its cheaper to build a guitar here than Japan now...

They've finally given the neck joint a bit of an update too:

that Natural is stunning but 4k is a really high price.

that neck heel is pretty sweet though. I've wondered why Epi/Gibs didn't do something similar.

Are those fretboards Richlite? If not Gibson has nothing to worry about.

this is the beginning of the end for Gibson.

At those prices?

I HIGHLY doubt it. Some of those reasons are:

-people will go for the Gibson in that price range (likely more than 99% of the time).
-ever see the going price of a used ESP? I know many people say that they don't buy a guitar to sell, but at those prices it is an investment and most people don't want to be put in that position.
-the old Korean LTD 400 is still out there and often for $350-$400

In my estimation, ESP is doing this about 20 years too late. They will float the USA operation with their cash for a while but it simply will not last. The New York Custom shop was ideally situated but even with great sales and a still busy guitar market, they didn't stay long.

Big ESP fan but this is way too late.
