Those look really nice, always been an ESP fan. Really glad that they are starting production in the good ol' USA

this is the beginning of the end for Gibson.

It might be if they finish the guitars in nitro and use the right woods and all that.

If not most of the gibson die hard fans will bash them like it happened with Hamers.....

G!bson eliminating FEB from most of it's model line will likely hurt their sales
much more than guitars that look slightly like Les Pauls, IMHO

Very pretty and well-made, but the neck profile is too thin.

Nice guitars and all that, very well made too, but if PRS haven't managed to have too negative an impact on Gibson with their single cut guitars, I doubt ESP will.
Sure, they are a nice take on the Les Paul, and so are the PRS's, but there's something about a great Gibson, a "body" to the sound, that it's just unique. Can't really put my finger to what it is but unless it's a perfect copy (like a Derrig or Japanese Tokai, for example) the sound is just not quite the same.

The impression I had with these ESP's is that they're kind of an "update", a more "modern" Les Paul, with slimmer necks, sometimes 24 frets (i.e. neck pickup closer to the bridge which yields a different sound) and stuff like that, and that can actually be a good thing, but it's not the same and that's why I think Gibson are probably not that worried.

Having said that, an ESP Eclipse and a great Gibson Les Paul would make quite an arsenal, which could inflict a lot of damage!

I noticed the thread about these on the backstage section and got intrigued and google'd a bit and found some specs.

I am wholly incompetent to judge, yet for the price they might be selling at, i just don't like seeing a Nashville bridge with bushings and a screwdriver slot like Epiphones and other "cheap" guitars. I like the ebony fretboard and neck - through construction though. For almost 4000 dollars i don't think Gibson will have any competition from these, and concerning Japanese made guitars, i think i'd rather prefer a high end Edwards over this.

when they want $2200 for an MIA EC-1000 we'll see how that flies.

I bet these will be better made than Gibsons are.

I doubt these guitars worry Gibson in the slightest. People are going to buy Gibsons because they say Gibson on the headstock. There have been high quality "other Les Pauls" built by other manufacturers for decades now, most a lot more traditional looking than this one, the implication that the missing piece of the puzzle was to have them made in the USA....

Lets see if I have this right, Gibson continues to produce guitars in Asia (Epiphone et al) and now an Asian guitar company is starting up production in the USA. It seems the worm has turned......

When I worked in a store very few gibson buyers knew what feb was. A big part of the new guitar market wouldn't care. fwiw

It is an outdated thing with no real purpose so why hang on to it? Certainly not for mono. ;)

Really nice looking guitars but I don't like the 3 knob setup on a LP shape.
