yeah, but how many of those dudes are going to go buy the album?
All it will take is one for the album cover PR to serve its purpose.

Royals is a catchy tune

I'm a casual consumer of popular music post 2005 and I can say, without reservation, that if she never released anything else, "Royals" would have been a worthwhile contribution. It's a perpetual earworm but based on merit alone. It's not disposably catchy but has a good structure, great lyrics, and a great musical background.

From what I've heard, here sophomore album was good as well. Frankly, if we scan the landscape of popular music, i'd say artists like her should be welcome.

Everyone releases salacious covers now and then.

Remember the ORIGINAL "Electric Ladyland" cover? The "Blind Faith" cover?

The artists weren’t naked/near naked on those covers.

She spoke out previously about not being sexualized and relying on “talent”.

I guess when the talent runs out you have to resort to other measures.

You make a valid argument. On the other hand, there is such a thing as delivering on both counts, i.e. provocative cover and great music.

I popped on her sophomore album after posting my last comment and it's pretty darn good. If she keeps that same ethic up on this one, who knows.

Not my cup of tea anyway. But in the general sense, it's at least refreshing to hear music that doesn't sound like everything else on the radio.
