Cowboy chord syndrome on a brand new guitar. Sucks and I think that's going to be a issue with ALL the zero fret nut Gibsons.

There are a few things that I dislike about the 2015 line up...that but is #1 in that category for me. The scrawling on the headstock is #2.

I just bought a 2007 that I am very happy with.

Now you know why it's adjustable.

:)

Pretty soon it will just be a zero nut fret and then you will have two. Bonus.

That bridge is pretty nifty.

Gonna have to buy a bag-o-nuts every year. New nut with every string change. Awesome. Maybe "memory foam" nuts next year. Good and soft.... LMAO!

Leo Baulioo would roll in his grave if he saw this crap.

Lot of people are starting to come up against the same prob at the moment. More will eventuate over time. This guy's been offered a replacement nut.

2012 was a high water mark from what I can see, the Les Pauls were very sound and actually Traditional. I am stunned at how far Gibson has slipped in such a short time. This is yet another example of short term thinking and a "rush to market" approach. To the OP I'd say find the best 2012 or before Les Paul you can find and you will have it for life. Dont waste your time and efforts on these downright strange 2015 Les Paul "improvements" . .

zero frets do wear, its the reason everyone stopped using them,
a conventional nut presents a much wider contact with the strings

Don't forget 2013 and 2014 re-introduced "solid" solid Les Paul without any weight relief and other measures.

IDK...2012 had the 2-piece rosewood boards, baked maple boards, Richlight boards.....2013 gets my "watermark" vote.

That's strange. Strings normally don't eat plastic nuts how did it eat through brass?
I dont think its gone through the nut, it seems to have gone through the zero fret. I have an old Westone Thunder 1A with a brass nut, its 32 years old and no wear whatsoever

I guess a wound string is basically a little sawblade and the G-force is working it back and forth like a saw.

Maybe they should have made the actual nut part out of stainless steel. Would take forever for that G-Force gadget to chew that nut up. Or would that be too harsh-sounding?
