Trending on sounding like a broken record here but... a custom shop vs a 50's/60's standard is like a D-45 vs a D-41. Same thing, more bling, and a LOT more money. If you like the bling, buy it. But don't kid yourself that you're getting more tone. You're not.
I don’t know, something special about CS! It’s more than just bling, but that’s just me… Granted, the new Standards are pretty damn nice!

I don't have a dog in the fight here as I've never owned a RI. I've played a few, but not enough to really measure it against anything else.

I've owned a few LPs, from different decades, but it is hard for me to imagine that there is a better guitar for me than my '21 LP Std 50s (Gibson USA). If I played enough left-handed LP Reissues, I'm sure I could find one that was better, and if I played a few real late 1950s LP Standards, I'm sure many of them could beat all the above. However, I'm very glad and blessed that the LP I have is good enough that I don't really ever think about finding something better and for a tone chaser that says a lot.

It has helped me learn contentment and now the only time I think about a new LP would be to get a GT to put black hardware on to get that 1957 vibe going on, for aesthetics only, to give my LP a buddy :cheers2:

As a fellow contented standard owner, that’s a great place to be.

I’ve played some nice historics and would love to get one in my stable some day, but I’m in no rush at all. The new standards really rock, and with the specs being a little more vintage, they seem to be closer to the historic reissues now than they’ve been in the past.
