Acetone is what’s typically used in nail polish remover. As such, it’s not an ingredient of conventional nail polish itself (would be self destructive). Conventional nail polish consists of a polymer, most commonly nitrocellulose, dissolved in a solvent, usually ethyl acetate or butyl acetate. Acetate is different than acetone. If nail polish contains acetone, acetone will f#ck up a lacquer finish. Just leave it alone or take it to someone who specializes in finish work.
