New Les Paul- Crack around Nut/binding

Looking for others thoughts on this crack. Just ordered a new Gibson 2022 from GC and love the guitar. However, I just noticed this crack that goes over the binding and nut?

You think this is a crack?... not a clear coat scratch?... it has a look of some kind of structural failure?... is the earths polarity gonna flip?....

Ya, the nut isn't going to crack, and anything stressing the binding will cause a separation at the edge where it meets the wood.
That just a surface scratch, or *possibly* the lacquer checking.

Someone who knows what they're doing can use a little lacquer thinner and reflow that, but it's not a DIY job.

Just a finish check in the clear coat with a little dirt rubbed into it. Don’t sweat it. You see how the crack ends exactly where the clear coat ends on the nut side. That how you know its just a natural lacquer check

Totally normal.....Have the same thing on my 2022 Junior

Definitely just a finish crack... that said, the finish could continue to crack over time and get longer/worse. One option to help mitigate that potentiality would be to take some clear nail polish and very lightly and carefully brush over it to help seal the crack in place and prevent further cracking... maybe.

If nail polish contains acetone, acetone will f#ck up a lacquer finish. Just leave it alone or take it to someone who specializes in finish work.

Like others said it's a finish crack. If you like the sound, feel, and looks, I would keep the guitar. I would also contact GC and ask for a discount. Beautiful guitar.

Acetone is what’s typically used in nail polish remover. As such, it’s not an ingredient of conventional nail polish itself (would be self destructive). Conventional nail polish consists of a polymer, most commonly nitrocellulose, dissolved in a solvent, usually ethyl acetate or butyl acetate. Acetate is different than acetone.

I’ve used the nail polish trick successfully myself with no problems.
