From the first time in 1977 when Mr. Frehley played that cherry sunburst LP, I had a soft spot. Playing off and on for a while, I " worked my way" up to a LP. I have a 1990 Ibanez RG 550 in blue ( ok I'm ducking as the rotten tomatoes are flying at me
) But that is an awesome guitar. Well, back to the story. For the longest time I couldn't afford an LP. Life, bills, child support... maybe I felt I didn't deserve one. Well last month, I came across the ZZounds website. They had a new 2012 LP Studio with Mini tune in wine for about 1100.00 . Well with payments at 90 a month it was a go. Well boy did that open stuff up. I opened it and played it, and played, and played. But something wasn't quite right. Well this past Friday, my local GC posted a used 2001 LP Standard in ... you guessed it CHERRY SUNBURST. Quick trip first thing Sat and now I own it. Cost 1599.00 but I think its sweet. Inside the cases there was a hand written tag that says" 2001 Gibson LP Std Premium AA top never had pick guard, all wiring stock. 490 R at neck and 500T at bridge" And on the other side it says 9 lbs 6 oz ( which I weighed and got damn close) . Sorry I'm giddy !!! I got a damn Les Paul !!! I LOVE the grain !! I love it when the grain goes from side to side not length wise. Anyway, thoughts? Good Deal? came with original case. LP looks like stock to me. The only thing is, did Gibson put a 500T in the 2001 Standard originally?
